Obituary

Warren Leeroy Saxton, 74, of New Lexington, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017 at the Genesis Healthcare Center in New Lexington.

Leeroy was born May 23, 1942 in Zanesville, the son of the late, Clifford and Betty (Grandstaff) Saxton.

He served his country in the Army National Guard from 1959-1964, he was a retired coal miner from Peabody Coal Company in New Lexington. Leeroy was Methodist by faith. Leeroy was a member of the National Rifleman Association and the National Wild Turkey Federation. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman and bird watcher. In addition, Leeroy enjoyed playing guitar and riding motorcycles.

Leeroy is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Kathryn (Wiseman) Saxton; his daughter, Joyce (Ron) Holman; his sons, Steve Saxton and Charles "Chip" (Jenny) Saxton all of New Lexington; his sister, Kay Seastrand of Zanesville; his step-sister, Janet Howerth of Lancaster, his adopted sisters, Kim (Burl) Harden of New Lexington and Kelly (John) Jarvis of Zanesville; his grandchildren, Jason, Jared, Beau, Faith, Wyatt, Nate, Nick and Emily and his five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Leeroy is preceded in death by his grandson, Cade Saxton and his fur child, Duke.

Family and friends will be received, 4:00 PM-8:00 PM, Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. Funeral services and a celebration of Leeroy's life will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 12 with Deacon Mark Weiner officiating. Burial will follow in New Lexington Cemetery.
