Evelyn was born June 20, 1922, in Crooksville, the daughter of the late Clyde O. and Edna (Alexander) Gibbs.
Evelyn worked tirelessly and unselfishly as a single parent to raise her only child. She worked as a waitress at the Gem, Monterey and Mil-Max Restaurants. She graduated from the Richard Weston Beauty School and passed the Ohio State Cosmetology Board Exam on November 23, 1963. She operated Evelyn's Beauty Shop in her home in Crooksville for many years. She also worked at the China and Hull Potteries. She served as recording secretary for Local Union 365 for many years. Evelyn was a 61- year member of Carnation Chapter 167 of the Ohio Order of the Eastern Star in New Lexington.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Robert C. Weaver, of the home; her nephew, Alan Joe Wilford of Norwalk, Ohio and her orange tabby cat, Happy.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia (Gibbs) Wilford; an infant brother, Kenneth Gibbs; her brother-in-law, Jack E. Wilford and a very special nephew, Jeffrey Jack Wilford.
Evelyn enjoyed reading, writing to her pen pals, flower and vegetable gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family, collecting pig items, doing her nails herself once a week, grocery shopping, using the weed-wacker and leaf blower, doing word search books, putting puzzles together, watching the Cleveland Indians, watching and listening to the Gaither Gospel series videos and CDs, and spending quality time with her dog, Hot Flash and the cat she so dearly loved, Happy.
Family and friends will be received 10:00 AM-2:00 PM, Friday, April 7, 2017 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Larry Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Crooksville Cemetery.
