Paul R. Sharkey



Paul Reuben Sharkey, 90, of McConnelsville, formerly of Crooksville, passed away at 3:00 AM, Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Riverside Country Care Center in McConnelsville following an extended illness.

Paul was born, May 21, 1927 in Crooksville, the son of the late Charles and Lura (Boring) Sharkey.

Paul served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He then worked for Hull Pottery in Crooksville and then retired from the state nursery of horticulture, Paul was also a member of the Tree of Life Church in Zanesville, the Doric Lodge 172 in Deavertown and the VFW Post 9090 in Crooksville.

He is survived by his sons, Gary (Janet) Sharkey and Thomas (Holly) Sharkey both of Crooksville; his sister, Marilyn (Rod) Wesney of New Lexington; his grandchildren, Angela (Chuck) Burns, Samantha (Grant) Shinn, Zebulin (Gloria) Sharkey, Tyler (Courtney) Moore, Shantae (Matt) Smith and Sonia (Michael) Pease; and his great-grandchildren, Gage Shinn, Clayton Burns, Abagail Sharkey, Shae Smith, Shyler Smith, Lily Pease, Gracie Pease, Hadley Moore and Tyrenni Moore.

In addition to his parents, Paul is preceded in death by his daughters, Vicki Moore and Paula Sharkey; his son, Samuel Sharkey; his sister, Erma Bobb and his brothers, Everett, Edgar, Melvin and Harold Sharkey.

Family and friends will be received, 2:00 PM-4:00 PM and 6:00 PM-8:00 PM, Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE with a Masonic service at 7:30 PM. Funeral services and a celebration of Paul's life will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 24, at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Horeb Cemetery with full military honors.
