Obituary

Robert William Lewis, Sr., 70, of Crooksville, Ohio passed away at 7:10 PM, Monday, September 18, 2017 at Genesis Healthcare New Lexington after battling Parkinson's Disease for over 27 years.

He was born July 1, 1947 in Zanesville, the son of the late Thomas Ray Lewis and Berniece (Weller) Lewis of Crooksville.

Rob had served our country in the US Army in the Vietnam War. He was a retired truck driver after having worked for numerous trucking companies. Rob was a member of Crooksville-Roseville VFW Post 9090 and Maple Ave. Christian Church in Crooksville. He was a former police officer for the Crooksville Police Department and a former member of the Crooksville Fire Department and EMS where he was part of the department's scuba dive team.. Several years ago, he was active in the Crooksville Archery Program and taught swimming and lifesaving classes at the Crooksville Swimming Pool.

In addition to his mother, Rob is survived by his wife of 51 years, Terrie (Steele) Lewis; his daughter and son-in-law, Heidi and Joseph Jenkins of Pataskala; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Rikki Lewis, Jr. of Crooksville; his sister-in-law, Elaine Lewis of Crooksville; his grandchildren, Andrew 'Drew' Jenkins, Elizabeth 'Libby' Jenkins, Erica Williams and Brylee Lewis and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, Rob was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Lewis.

Family and friends will be received 2:00 PM-4:00 PM and 6:00 PM-8:00 PM, Thursday, September 21, 2017 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. Funeral services and a celebration of Rob's life will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, September 22 at the funeral home with Pastor Conard Wolf officiating. Full military honors will be presented following the service. Cremation will follow.
