Pat Goebel, owner, funeral director, embalmer, and insurance Pre-need agent established Goebel Funeral Home in 1974 upon purchasing this firm that was formerly Fred L. Cannon & Sons and prior to that was Cannon & Cannon Funeral Home. He was born in Chillicothe in 1944, the third son of Ernie and Leora Hartley Goebel. Pat graduated from CHS (Chillicothe High School) in 1962, attended Ohio University and went on to graduate from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1967, acquiring his Ohio Funeral Directors and Embalmers licenses in 1968. Pat’s daughters are Amy Goebel, a pharmaceutical rep for Obagi and Julie Goebel, owner and operator of Goebel Hearing Center in Chillicothe. Both live in the Columbus area. Shane and Cody Harkless are his grandsons and live in Chillicothe. In 1982, he married Dorothy Harbaugh Goebel and together they have tirelessly served the families of our community. Pat is a member of the NRA, Peerless Lodge 591 F. & A.M, Valley of Cambridge Scottish Rite, Crooksville Eagles, Amrou Grotto, Knights of Columbus, Ohio Embalmers Assoc., Ohio Funeral Directors Assoc., New Lexington Elks, Moose Lodge, Zanesville Rifle Club, Ohio Rifle & Pistol Assoc., and a very active member of Church of the Atonement Catholic Church. Pat’s hobbies are hunting, fishing, shooting sports, cooking, gardening and most of all, taking care of and spending time with his numerous pets. His dedication to providing the finest funeral service available is unequaled by anyone in the profession and plans to continue being the ”caregiver in funeral service” to all in Crooksville, Roseville and the surrounding areas.
