A. Genell Berga, 93, of Crooksville peacefully passed away at 1:10 PM, Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at The Oaks at Bethesda in Zanesville following a brief illness.
Genell was born August 17, 1921 in Crooksville, the daughter of the late Forbie and Rose Sowers Penman.
She was a former pottery worker at the China and Hull Potteries in Crooksville, as well as a former member of the Fidelas Mother's Club. She was United Methodist by faith.
Genell is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Susan Berga of Zanesville; her daughter, Gera Pompey of Crooksville; her grandchildren, Nicholas Berga, Katie (John) Lee, Erica (Bryan) Manipole, Michael Berga, Atheuth (James) Paris and Amy (Joe) Buchanan; and her great-grandchildren, Natalie Berga, Slade Berga, Kelsie Lee, Kensie Lee, Kristen Hazlett, Brett Hazlett, Michelle Hazlett and Joshua Mayle.
In addition to her parents, Genell was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd J. Berga, who passed away May 7, 1998 and her sister, Lois Neff.
Friends and family will be received 6:00 PM-8:00 PM, Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. Funeral services and a celebration of Genell's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 27 at the funeral home with Rev. Gay E. Blau officiating. Burial will follow in Crooksville Cemetery.
