Barbara Mae Swingle, a beloved member of the Deavertown community, passed away on September 3, 2024, at the age of 86. Born in Zanesville, Ohio, on October 5, 1937, Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will forever be cherished.
Throughout her life, Barbara was a devoted mother to her children and stepchildren, Tracy (Angie) Swingle, Chris (John) Huddleston, Karen Wood, Greg (Becky) Harrison, Robert II Swingle, Amy (Ed) Goodhind, Alice (Tommy) Maroney, Bobbi (Vinnie) Vurro, Andy Swingle, and Randy (Julie) Swingle. She treasured her siblings Wayne McElroy, Butch (Linda) McElroy. She loved each of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Finding joy in the close-knit bond they shared. Barbara's love for her family was evident in her delicious cooking and baking, always ensuring that her loved ones were well-fed and cared for.
Barbara found solace in tending to her flowers, spending peaceful hours in her garden. She also had a passion for shopping, finding delight in seeking out the perfect gifts for her family and friends. Her kind heart and gentle spirit endeared her to all who knew her, leaving a lasting impression on many lives.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father and mother, Scott McElroy and Lucille (Humphrey) McElroy, her beloved husband Robert Swingle, her sisters, Marge White and Judy Rockwell, her brothers Don McElroy and John McElroy, her daughter-in-law Janet Swingle and her son-in-law Kenny Wood.
In the quiet moments of reflection, let us remember Barbara Mae Swingle with fondness and gratitude for all the love she bestowed upon us. May her spirit continue to shine brightly in our hearts, guiding us with the warmth and compassion that defined her life.
Family and friends may visit to pay respects on Friday, September 6th, 2024, from 10-1pm. A funeral service will take place following the visitation at 1:00pm. A graveside service will take place in Deavertown Methodist Cemetery where Barbara will be laid to rest next to her husband.
