Bela M. Ferguson, 85, formerly of Congo Road, Corning, passed away at 4:37 P.M., Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster after an extended illness. She was born October 19, 1923 in Oakfield to the late Herman Edgar Cavinee and Norine Frazier Cavinee. Bela was a former employee of Essex Wire of Zanesville and was a homemaker. She is survived by her loving children; daughters, Dixie (Walter) Kaido of Corning, Sandra (John) Smith of Corning, Patricia Banik of Somerset, Trudy Ferguson of Florida; sons, George (Rose)Ferguson, Jr. of Corning and Bruce Ferguson of McConnelsville; her sisters, Mabel Steele of Crooksville, Betty Oiler of Zanesville, Yvonne (Jack) Jeffers of Lancaster, Joan (Bob) Bateson of New Lexington, Kay (Tom) Newman of Newark, and Betty Bateson of Vermillon; her brother, Charles (Billie) Strickland of Arkansas; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; George Ferguson Sr. who died January 31, 1993; her parents; her children, Janice Elswick and Charles "Chuck" Ferguson; and three sisters. Friends may call Sunday, July 19, 2009 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE, where funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Monday, July 20 with Pastor Dan Hinkle officiating. Burial will follow in Community Gardens Cemetery near New Lexington.
