Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Called his loyal and faithful servant, Carol Ruth Heigley, into his loving arms on November 14, 2024. Carol was born on November 17, 1939 to her parents William F. Hahn and Virgina (Hern) Hahn in Bucyrus, Ohio. She attended Holmes Liberty Schools and graduated from Holmes Liberty High School in 1957. Carol later graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Math Education. She worked hard at numerous jobs to finance her education. She further received a master’s degree from Northwestern University in Math. Carol began her teaching career in Dublin Schools, later in Columbus Public Schools, then retiring from Crooksville High School after 30 years of service. She met her devoted husband, Bernard, in Columbus, Ohio then moved to the family farm near Deavertown, Ohio. They spent 55 years together in marriage.
The Lord blessed Carol with many special talents, most notedly a loving and caring heart to serve others and a passion for music. Music was a key element in her life beginning with piano lessons at an early age. She continued following her passion for music by singing as a member in the Glee Club at OSU and used these talents to serve others by singing and playing at many weddings, funerals, and special events throughout her life. Carol was a faithful member of the Deavertown United Methodist Church and served as the pianist for over 40 years. As a member, Carol served in many roles such as Sunday School Teacher, Treasurer, Choir, VBS, and several leadership committees. Carol served publicly in her life in York Township with several terms as the Township Clerk. Carol loved to read, cook, sew, and knit, giving many handmade items to friends and family. Her humor, servant heart, and generosity will be missed by all.
Left to mourn the passing of Carol is husband Bernie, daughter Rebecca of the home, Joel (Alicia) near Deavertown, and Andrew (Amy) of Sunbury; Six granddaughters: Emma, Madelyn, Isabella, Abigail, Kathryn, and Elise; Brother Michael (Diane) Hahn of Cincinnati; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents, father and mother-in-law Steve and Kathryn Heigley, brother William (Sharon) Hahn, and a brother-in-law David (Cheryl) Heigley.
