Crooksville

Charles J. Pitcock, 95, of Crooksville peacefully died in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Genesis Hospice Morrison House.

He was born, one of seven children on June 20, 1929, in Crooksville, to the late Charles and Mildred (Molihan) Pitcock.

Chuck was drafted into the United States Army in December 1951 where he spent his tour driving supplies back and forth to the front line where he was also present during the signing of the Armistice in Korea. Following his honorable service in the military, Chuck spent 23 years as a heavy equipment operator for Peabody Coal Company. Following his retirement, he and his wife, Rhea spent many years farming the land, raising beef cattle and growing and harvesting local produce. He spent many hours dedicated to civil groups such as the Peerless Lodge #591 F.& A.M. where he was a 60+ year member; and the Zanesville American Legion Post 29. Above all, Charles was a man of deep and devout Christian faith, he practiced his faith as a former member of the Maple Avenue Christian Church and currently in the Rosefarm Church of Christ. His faith was a hallmark of who he was, a man who loved and lived for God.

Chuck leaves behind a whole host of friends and family, including his wife of 74 years, Rhea “Rose” (Wood) Pitcock; his son, Tim (Cindy) Pitcock; his son-in-law, Brad Verhey; his sister, Patty Matty and his darling grandchildren, Rachel Verhey, Joseph Verhey, Logan Pitcock, McKenzie Pitcock and Isaiah Pitcock; as well as his friends, Jim Reed and Donnie and Connie Allen.
