Clementine Sue Funk, 90, of Corning, peacefully passed into eternal life in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 12, 2025, with her family by her side.
She was born one of four children on September 30, 1934, to the late Isham and Marie (Tracy) Embrey.
Clementine was the caretaker and homemaker to her family, turning her little slice of heaven on Tatmans road into a home. Like her siblings, Clementine’s idea of fun was working, she was always outside taking care of the yard, tending to her gardens, canning food from her garden and mowing grass. In addition to her duties at home, Clementine spent many years working for Ketcham’s Nursing Home, from doing laundry to working with the permanents. Family was the center of her life, she even helped care for her granddaughter, making sure she always made the bus to school. At the root of her caring nature was a profound belief in God and her savior, Jesus Christ. She made her Christian home at Zion Christian Union Church where she spent many years teaching Sunday School. Clementine will forever be remembered for her sweet disposition and caring nature.
Left behind to survive her are her daughters, Sherry (Chris) Sandefur and Kimberly (Jeremy) Lander; her sisters, Anna Derwacter and Linda Bateson; her sister-in-law, Barbara Riley; her brother-in-law, Frances Funk; her granddaughter, Kimberly (Travis) McCune; her great-grandchildren, Carly Ann McCune and Cooper Buck McCune, as well as her special friend, Ruth Bowman.
In addition to her parents, Clementine is welcomed into eternal life by her husband, Freeman “Pete” Funk who died May 10, 2017; her brother, Max Embrey and her brothers-in-law, Charles Derwacter and Richard “Dick” Bateson.
