Danny R. Thomas, Sr

Danny R. Thomas, Sr., 59, of Crooksville passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at his home following an extended illness.

He was born, May 28, 1958 in Zanesville, the son of the late Edgar “Eck” and Connie Thomas.

Danny was a local pottery worker and had worked for Petro Ware in Crooksville. He was an avid golfer, a passionate Ohio State Buckeye football fan and enjoyed playing bingo on the computer. For many years, Danny coached pee-wee baseball at the South Park in Crooksville.

Danny is survived by his wife, Lori Thorp Thomas of the home, his daughters, JoAnn (Steven) Moore, Kasey Thomas (Gizzy) and Whitney Thomas (Thacker) all of Crooksville; his son, Danny Thomas, Jr. (Amanda) of Crooksville; his father-in-law, Floyd Thorp; his sisters-in-law, Cookie Desarro, Betty Speakman and Cathy Hinkle; his brother-in-law, Floyd Thorp, Jr.; his cousins, Karen Edwards, Michelle Thomas and Bobi Bonar; and his grandchildren, Melanie, Emma, Chloe, Harmonie and Carson.

In addition to his parents, Danny is preceded in death by his brother, Mike Thomas; his mother-in-law, Peg Thorp; his sister-in-law, Billie Wnek, his aunt and uncle, Darrel and Velma Thomas and his paternal grandparents, Blanche and Kip Thomas.

Friends and family will be received, 10:00 AM-2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. Funeral services and a celebration of Danny’s life will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Marc Caton officiating. Burial will follow in Crooksville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Danny’s name. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
