Edward J. Ferguson, 79, of High Street, Corning, passed away at 9:30 P.M. Monday, June 1, 2009 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House after an extended illness. He was born April 12, 1930 in Corning to the late John Edward Ferguson and Mildred Potter Ferguson. Ed was a member of the United States Air Force and proudly served our country during the Korean Conflict. He was a former employee of Lempco in New Lexington and later retired from Altier Bros., Inc. He is a member of the Corning American Legion Post 327, Corning Eagles # 463, Corning Masonic Lodge #584 F & AM and Valley of Columbus Scottish Rite. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Wesney Ferguson of the home; daughter, Lea (Steve) Bentley of Crooksville; son, Jay (Elaine) Ferguson of Corning; a sister, Elaine (John) Ebert of Hilliard; grandchildren, Briann (Darren) Wooley, Alicia Ferguson (Matt Grilliot), Adam (Rachel) Bentley, and Jordan Bentley (Abbie Grubb); great- grandchildren, Hannah Guess, Conner Wooley, Caleb Wooley, and Mason Wooley. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Lurleen Joy Ferguson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Corning American Legion Post 327, 111 East Main Street, Corning, Ohio 43730 or Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care, 713 Forest Ave., Zanesville, Ohio 43701. A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, June 13 at the Corning American Legion Post, 111 E. Main St., Corning.
