Estella M. Bowers

Estella M. Bowers, 84, of Zanesville, Ohio, formerly of Crooksville, passed away at 7:05 P.M., Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Morrison House, Zanesville following an extended illness.

She was born August 9, 1926 in New Lexington, the daughter of the late Gilbert and Lily Hill Tatman.

Estella enjoyed homemaking and making ceramics in addition to baking and sharing desserts with family and friends. She often hosted relatives and neighbors at her kitchen table where a cup of coffee and baked goods were always available. Her husband and family were the light of her life. She was a member of First Hope United Methodist Church in Crooksville and United Methodist Women.

Mrs. Bowers is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Marla & Bernard Gamble of Dayton, Holly Stoneburner of Zanesville and Lisa & Tim Freriks of Norwalk; her brothers, Eugene & Zula Tatman of London,Ohio, Charles "C.E." & Hazel Tatman of Aiken, South Carolina and Dwight & Janet Tatman of Columbiana, Ohio; her grandchildren, Traci(Chris) Casto, Todd Stoneburner, Tyler Freriks, Luke Freriks, Kayla Freriks and Geena Freriks; and her great grandchildren, Cameron & Braedon Casto.

In addition to her parents, Estella was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. "Gene" Bowers; two granddaughters, Alyssa and Carly Freriks; sisters, Mary Ellen Elder, Betty R. Luman and Gloria Souders; and brother, Lawrence Tatman.

The Bowers family will receive visitors 6-8 P.M., Tuesday, April 5 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. Funeral services and a celebration of Estella's life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 6 with Rev. Gay E. Blau officiating. Burial will follow in Crooksville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Estella to First Hope United Methodist Church, 20 N. Buckeye ST., Crooksvilole, Ohio. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
