Eugene Francis "Gene" Loro

Eugene Francis "Gene" Loro, 96 of Crooksville died peacefully, Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Genesis Good Samaritan Medical Center in Zanesville following a brief illness. He was born Saturday, September 5, 1917 in Pittson, PA the son of the late Frank & Elvira (Rocereto) Loro. He married Ruth (Robinson) Loro on September 8, 1964 and was Roman Catholic by Faith.

Gene retired from Essex Wire as an Aeronautical & Mechanical Engineer following many years of service. He enjoyed fly fishing, being a HAM Radio Operator, Master Knife Maker and hunting. Gene was an excellent wine maker, sang lead in barbershop quartets and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a Master Mason.

Gene is survived by two sons: Jim & Melva Loro of Gilroy, CA and Frank Loro of Flagstaff, AZ; one daughter, Diane Getz of Florida; one stepson: Ron & Nancy Channel of Crooksville; seven grandchildren: Heynia Cooley, Sterling & Shelli Loro, Joylene Loro, Nadene & Daniel Snapp and Janel & Kevin Waldschmidt all of California; Tina and Noah Bates, Jason and Ashley Getz; six step grandchildren: Shadd & Jennifer Channel and Randy & Donna Watts both of Crooksville and Ronnie Watts of New Lexington; Hank & Trisha Marolt, Steve & Teresa Marolt and Jerry & Amy Marolt all of Crooksville; nine great grandchildren: Ryan, Demi, Devin, Dina, Alexa, Brandon, Rhiannon & Amanda all of California; twelve step great grandchildren: Jessie & Hillary Watts, Jeremy & Levi Watts, Colton, Tasha, Chole & Caden Watts, Josh, Tucker & Cooper Watts and Lake & Josie Channel; four step great, great grandchildren; Lilly, Amiah, Mack and Cally Mae Watts; two nieces: Barbara Pisanno and Jenny Capon both of Pennsylvania and numerous great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his wife: Ruth Loro; one stepdaughter and her husband: Diane & Jerry Marolt; one step grandson: Timmy Watts

Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00PM, Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at the Goebel Funeral Home, 36 North Buckeye Street, Crooksville where the Rosary will be recited at 7:45 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM, Thursday at Church of The Atonement, 320 Winter Street, Crooksville with Fr. John Reade as celebrant. Following the ceremony a reception will be held at the VFW Hall Post 9090. In accordance with Gene's wishes a caring cremation will take place.
