(Frances) Gene Wilson Whitlatch, 88, formerly of Crooksville, Ohio passed away at 5:30 PM, Friday, December 30, 2011 at Forrest View Health Campus, Zanesville following an extended illness.
Gene was born February 20, 1923 in Crooksville, the daughter of the late Sylvanus B. and Zetta Hicks Wilson.
Mrs. Whitlatch was a former bookkeeper at City National Bank in Columbus. She was a former Crooksville City Councilwoman and manager of the Crooksville-Roseville Pottery Museum. Gene was an avid collector of doll babies, pottery and antiques. She formerly attended First Hope United Methodist Church in Crooksville.
Gene is survived by her nephew and his wife, Douglas E. and Taundra Starrett of Canal Winchester; her brother-in-law, Glenn Starrett of Zanesville and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer "Bucky" Whitlatch, who passed away February 24, 1980; her sister, Mary Starrett and infant sister, Virginia Wilson.
Family and friends will be received 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 4, 2011 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE with Pastor Andy Amos officiating. Burial will follow in Crooksville Cemetery.
