Freeman W. "Pete" Funk, 88, of Corning, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at his home following an extended illness.
He was born July 10, 1928 in Preston Co. WV, to the late, Ernest and Pauline Bolyard Funk.
Pete served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired as a supervisor from Owens-Corning Fiberglass, he was also attended the Zion Christian Union Church in Portersville.
Pete is survived by his loving wife of sixty and a half years, Clementine Embrey Funk of the home; his daughters, Sherry Lantz (Chris Sandefur) of Corning and Kimberly Funk Roberts (Jeremy Lander) of Zanesville; his sister, Barbara (Jack) Riley of Malta; his brother, Francis (Mary) Funk of McConnelsville; his granddaughter, Kimberly (Travis) McCune and his great-granddaughter, Carly Ann McCune.
In addition to his parents, Pete is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Schooley and his brother, Brian Funk.
Family and friends will be received, 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, May 12, 2017 at the GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. Funeral services and a celebration of Pete's life will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 13 at the funeral home with Pastor Walt Gessner officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery with full military honors.
