Irene Gardner

Irene V. Gardner, 86, of Crooksville, Ohio (Rosefarm) passed away at 6:00 AM, Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Genesis Healthcare Facility in New Lexington following an extended illness.

She was born May 2, 1930 in Glenco, Belmont County, the daughter of the late John George and Margaret Ellen Street Bruce.

Irene was a former employee of Essex Wire in Zanesville and a member of Rosefarm Church of Christ. She was a 1948 graduate of Barnesville High School and she worked as a waitress at a restaurant in Barnesville where she met her husband Paul Robert Gardner.

She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Gardner; her son, Robert Gardner; her caretaker and once daughter-in-law, Judy Gardner, all of Crooksville; her brother-in-law Kenneth Wade (Shirley) Gardner of McConnelsville; her grandchildren, Alan Gardner and John (Mallory) Gardner; her great grandchildren, Hudson, Jackson and Emerson Gardner; her special caretaker, Bonnie Morgan and several nieces and nephews.

Addition to her parents, Irene is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Robert Garner, who passed away on February 1, 2013; her sisters, Louise Coblenz and Beatrice Phillips and her brothers, Fred Bruce and Bill Bruce.

Family and friends will be received 4-8 PM, Tuesday, February 28 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. Funeral services and a celebration of Irene's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 1 at the funeral home with Steve Little officiating. Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery in Galia County.
