James C. Mock, Jr

James C. Mock, Jr. of Portersville, Ohio died at 9:50 AM, Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Genesis Hospital emergency room following a sudden illness.

He was born October 15, 1940 in Lancaster, Ohio the son of the late James C. and Blanche Ora (Ferguson) Mock, Sr.

Jim was a retired heavy equipment operator having worked in the coal mines and the Operating Engineers Union in Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking projects and travelling and he was instrumental in organizing The Coalminers' Breakfast. Jim dearly loved his family. He attended the Oakfield Wesleyan Church and was a member of New Lexington Masonic Lodge 250.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Marilyn (Hinkle) Mock; his daughters, April Mock of Canal Winchester and Angela Mock of Newark; his step-daughter, Jeannie of Somerset; his son, James (Deanna) Clyde Mock, III of New Lexington; his step-son, David (Jennifer) Dolan of Wyoming; his sisters, Cheryl Starner and Cindy (Bill) Danner, all of Florida; his brother, Robby Mock of Columbus; his seven grandchildren, James C. 'J.C' Mock, IV, Brady (Grace) Mock, Robert Penrod, Justin Dolan, Jeanna Dolan, Joseph Taylor and Joel Taylor; his great grandchildren, Elijah Taylor and Athena Dawn Mock; his special brother-in-law, Larry (Betsy) Burns; his special niece, Melissa (David) Kennedy and his great nephews, Landon and Bryson.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Mock.

Jim will be cremated. Family and friends will be received beginning at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Oakfield Wesleyan Church, 3583 St. Rt. 13, Crooksville, OH. A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday at the church with Pastor Dan Hinkle officiating.
