John R. Lewis

John R. Lewis, 70, of Crooksville, passed away 5:25 PM Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the Genesis Hospice Morrison House in Zanesville, following a brief illness.

John was born on February 25, 1943 to the late John William and Ursula Kain Lewis in Huntington, West Virginia.

He was a retired Columbus City Police dispatcher. John attended the Cornerstone Baptist Church in New Lexington.

John is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Fitzpatrick Anderson Lewis; his step-sons, Shon and Dawn Vanoy of Crooksville, James and Natasha Anderson of New Lexington and Adam and Katie Anderson of New Lexington; his nieces, Angela and Steve Serviss, Vickey Johnson and Christina Cooperman; his grandchildren Ivan, Isaac, Ian, Kaylee, Emily, Drew Anderson and Branden and Kitana Vanoy; and his fur child Gracie Mae.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Lewis.

Family and friends may be received from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM on Sunday, November 24th at the GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST. CROOKSVILLE. Funeral services and a celebration of John's life will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Larry Ruh officiating. In keeping with John's wishes, a caring cremation will follow.
