John H. "Bud" Rosser, Jr

John Henry "Bud" Rosser, Jr., 78, of Roseville, Ohio died peacefully with his family at his side at 6:35 PM, Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House in Zanesville following an extended illness.

John was born March 23, 1936 in Crooksville, the son of the late John M. Rosser, Sr. and Edith M. Riffle Rosser.

He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Barbara I. Tolley Rosser, on June 16, 1956 and celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.

John served our country in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1953 to 1958.

He was a retired electrician from Tolley's TV in Crooksville and the former Ohio Ferro Alloys in Philo and a forty year member of Union Local 1105 IBEW. He attended the Maple Ave. Christian Church in Crooksville. John was a member and the Past Master of the Peerless Lodge 591 F&A.M., a life member of BPOE 509 in New Lexington where he was the Past Exalted Ruler, Crooksville Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1979, Crooksville American Legion Post# 222, Past President and life member of the Zanesville Bowling Association, a member of the Zanesville Bowling Association Hall of Fame, a life member of the Thornville Amvets #51, member of the Zanesville Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2070, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, the Hocking Valley Shrine #51, New Lexington Chapter #149 of the Royal Arch Masons of Ohio, New Lexington Council #75 Royal & Select Masons of Ohio, New Lexington Commandery #57 Knights Templar, Valley of Cambridge, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Amrou Grotto where he was a Grotto clown, Past President & Secretary of #13 Masonic District, Carnation Chapter #167 of Order of Eastern Star, Zavi Shrine Club, Aladdin Shriners of Columbus and Kilwinning Council #62 Knight Masons of Dublin, Ireland.

Bud is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara I. Tolley Rosser of the home; his daughters, Brenda (Kent) Miller of Zanesville and Jan (Jim) Digilo of Buckeye Lake. He was the proud grandfather of ten grandchildren, Billy Lee (Misty) Rosser, Amy Jo Rosser, Johnesa Benae (Doug) Beckert, McCall Donne Rosser (Dustin Luman), Nikole Ashleigh Miller (Jimmy Drake), Megan Rene (Cody Kennedy) Anthony Alan Miller, Eric Kristopher Carr (Leslie Sutton), Kristen Elizabeth Carr (Troy Matthews), and the second love of his life, Madison Ann Digilio. He is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren, Brandon Michael, Anthony Dwight Arthur and Dillon Lee Rosser, Abigail Elizabeth and Emily Jo Hayes, Lillie Rose and Julia Lee Rosser, Derek Brandon Collins, Channing DeVier, Brenae Marie Beckert and Briley Jordan Kennedy. Also surviving are his sisters and brothers, Evelyn McLean, Ron (Sandy) Rosser, Eleanor Starner, Shirley (Joe) Wilson, Sandra (Jim) Savage, Roger (Lou) Rosser, Diana (Kenny) Harris and Larry (Judie) Rosser; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, William "Dobie" Thomas, William Ray Tolley, Donna Jean (Bill) Schooley, Roland Dale (Karen) Tolley and Beverly (Drew) Collins.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his two boys who died at birth, Paul Alan and Mark Anthony Rosser; his son, John Henry Rosser, III.; his brothers, Richard Rosser, Gary Rosser, Jimmy Rosser, Donnie Rosser and William Rosser; his sisters, JoAnn Bateson, Patricia Stover and Judy Thomas; and his brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Cam Stover, Sam Cable, J.O. Neff, Gerald McLean, Blondie Starner and Jeannine Tolley.

John loved his electrician friends and enjoyed sharing stories about the good times they had. John's friend, Mike Bush, brought him a lot of joy the last few days doing just that.

The Rosser Family would like to give a special thank you to the Inpatient and Home Hospice Staff who cared for John through his long battle with cancer. A special thanks to Patty Steer, Marsha Wagner, Rev. Tim Patton and Rev. Con Wolf for their assistance in meeting every need John had as well as his family. A special thank you to the Williams family, the Kyle Ray family and the Case Stingel family.

Family and friends will be received 6-8:00 PM, Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST. CROOKSVILLE, where Masonic services will be held at 7:30 PM, funeral services and a celebration of John's life will be at 8:00 PM with Reverends Con Wolf and Tim Patton officiating. A caring cremation will follow.
