Larry Eugene ‘Gene’ Lyle, 74, of Crooksville, Ohio died surrounded by his loving family at 10:35 AM, Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at his residence following an extended illness.
He and his twin brother were born May 5, 1947 in Zanesville, the sons of the late Carson and Ferne V. (nee: Ansel) Lyle.
Gene was a 1966 graduate of Crooksville High School. Following graduation, he joined the US Army, serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. He worked as a welder at Stewart Glapat in Zanesville, from which he retired. Gene enjoyed going for lunch at the Luncheon Muncheon Restaurant and signing up for the drawings at the Crooksville Legion and VFW every day. He had quite a large collection of lawn mowers, some of which he actually used. Also, Gene was known as the neighborhood welder as he was asked by many folks, especially the kids, to weld this or that for them which he gladly did. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and friend.
Left behind to mourn his passing is his wife of 51 years, Connie (nee: Willison) Lyle; his daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and John Bates; his nieces and nephew, Angela Lyle, Terre (Chris) Craft, Renee and Rachael Lyle and Bryan (Heather) Lyle; his sisters-in-law, Sandy Lyle and Darcy Lyle and his close friends, Larry and Judie Rosser, Karen Tolley and John Hayes.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his brothers, (twin) Dean Lyle and Doug Lyle.
