Margaret JoAnn 'Peggy' Thorp, 68 of Crooksville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at 11:20 AM, Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Genesis Morrison House Hospice in Zanesville following a lengthy illness.
She was born Saturday, January 27, 1945 in Columbus, the daughter of the late John & Anna Mae (Saxton) O'Neal. She married her husband of 48 1/2 years, Floyd Thorp on Saturday, August 22, 1964 and was a member of Church of The Atonement in Crooksville. Peggy was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. Peggy enjoyed bingo, shopping for clothes and the time she spent at the river. She was an active member of Crooksville VFW Post # 9090 Women's Auxiliary and a member of Beverly Eagles Aerie 3665.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Floyd; five daughters, Teresa & Tom Desarro of Zanesville, Lori & Danny Thomas of Crooksville, Betty Speakman & Jack Fisher of Tarlton, Billie & Jim Wnek of Junction City and Cathy Hinkle & Dave Gillespie of Hopewell; one son, Floyd E. Thorp, Jr. & Renee' Bremer of Albany, Oregon; fifteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Manring of Roseville and Carol Taylor of Crooksville; two brothers, Bill O'Neal of Crooksville and Jim & Debbie O'Neal of Zanesville
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by one infant brother, John Joseph O'Neal, Jr.; one sister, Mary Tittle and a special mother-in-law, Beatrice Moyer.
Family and friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Monday, April 15, 2013 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 NORTH BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE where a Christian Vigil Service will be held at 8:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 16 at Church of The Atonement, 310 Winter St, Crooksville with Fr. James Csaszar as celebrant. Peggy will be laid to rest in Crooksville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Morrison House Hospice, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, OH 43701.
One of Peggy's requests, along with her family, was to extend her sincere, heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staffs of Willow Haven Care Center, Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital and Genesis Morrison House Hospice for the care she was given.

Friends may call Monday, April 15, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00 PM at The Goebel Funeral Home, 36 North Buckeye Street, Crooksville, where a Christian Vigil will be held at 8:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Church of The Atonement with Fr. Jim Caesar as celebrant. Peggy will be laid to rest in Crooksville Cemetery.
