It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marion "Duke" Powell, Jr. on September 1, 2024. Marion was born on May 15, 1950, in Harlan, Kentucky, and lived a life filled with love and devotion to his family. He passed away peacefully at his home in Roseville, Ohio, surrounded by those he loved.
Duke will always be remembered for his unwavering love for his family. He is survived by his beloved spouse of 42 years, Carolyn (Kinney) Powell; daughter Mary (Dave Butler) Powell, his sons Jessie Powell, Hank Powell, and Duke Kinney; as well as by his cherished sisters, Fern Reed, Daisey (Gale) Winegardner, Ruby Dennis, Reba Warden, and his sister-in-law, Brenda Belcher, and his brother Robert (Denise) Powell. Duke also leaves behind his grandchildren, Ariana, Wyatt, Logan, Emma, Carson, John, Hayden, and Dakota, who meant the world to him.
A compassionate and dedicated family man, Duke took great joy in spending time with his grandchildren and sharing his love of music. He found solace in working on cars and lawn mowers while listening to the classic tunes of Hank Williams, Sr. Duke's charming wit and knack for cracking a joke will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Marion Powell, Jr. will forever be remembered for his loving nature, his dedication to his family, and the joy he brought to those around him. Per Duke's wishes, no formal funeral or viewing will be held at this time. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love of his family and the memories he created with them.
Marion was preceded in death by his father and mother, Marion Powell, Sr, and Mary (Baumgardener) Powell, and his siblings, Maryetta Depuy, Alice Hill, Clarence Powell.
