Mary Eleanore Lawrence, 96, of Crooksville passed away quietly at 9:10 PM Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Adams Lane Care Center Zanesville, Ohio.

Mary was born May 19, 1920 in Crooksville, the daughter of the late Bernard and Grace (Fealty) Lawrence.

She was a graduate of Crooksville High School in 1938 and later graduated from Meredith Business College in Zanesville. The same day of her graduation, she began working at Black and Grant Wholesale House in Zanesville. She retired from Schrader and Bellows Division of Scovill Inc. where she was personnel manager. Later, she worked in the geneology Room at the Perry County Court House. Mary was a lifelong, devoted member of Church of The Atonement Catholic Church in Crooksville were she served as the right-hand assistant to all of the priests who pastored there. She was the church's financial manager and produced the church bulletin for many years. In the past, together with Mary Wayne, Mary organized and presented the annual May Crowning celebration at the church that was held in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. She was a 50+ year member of the Good Samaritan Charity Circle and a former member of the Secretary's Club in Zanesville. After her retirement, she spent most of her time with her family, babysitting and helping them with all their needs.

Mary is survived by her nephew and his wife, Bill and Kris Lawrence of Zanesville; her niece, Bonnie Seals of Zanesville; her great nieces, Danielle (Billy) Scott of Crooksville and Riley LaShea (Shawna Newman) of Nevada; her great nephews, George (Kelly) Patterson of Zanesville, Tony Lawrence and Cody Lawrence and their mother, Jana Lawrence, all of Crooksville and her great great nephews, Christian Emory and Noah Scott.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, William and Ada Lawrence and her twin baby brother, James Eugene Lawrence.

Family and friends will be received 4:00-7:00 PM, Sunday, December 18 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM, Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Monday, December 19 at Church of The Atonement Catholic Church, 300 Winter St., Crooksville with Father Cyrus Haddad as celebrant. Burial will follow in New Lexington Cemetery.
