Mary G. Starrett, 91, of New Lexington, formerly of Crooksville passed away at 2:33 PM, Thursday, April 21, 2011 at New Lexington Care and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.
She was born April 22, 1919 in Claremore, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Joseph L. and Alice Mildred Shinn Swingle, Sr.
Mary was a homemaker and the former owner and operator of Brookside Motel and Apartments in South Zanesville. She was a member of New Lebanon Lutheran Church in Junction City and a former member of the Coffee Cup Bible Study in Crooksville.
Mrs. Starrett is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Jon Cassady of Minocqua, Wisconsin, Linda and Martin Reed of Corning, Donna and Richard Gee of Nashport, Carolyn and Norm Buchanan of Zanesville and Larain and Tom Kunkler of Somerset; her sisters, Margaret Hill of Allen, Texas and Nancy Gransee of Mesa, Arizona; her brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Yvonne Swingle of Crooksville and Robert and Barbara Swingle of Deavertown; her grandchildren, Don(Rebecca)Cassady, Diana Simonson, Stacey(Bill)Weaver, Clayton Rittberger, Carl Reed, Grant(Melina)Buchanan, Lindsey Buchanan, Lauren Kunkler and Mikaela Kunkler; her great grandchildren, Eli Weaver, Logan Weaver, Harmon Weaver, Josie Weaver and Lewis Simonson; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Herman W. Starrett who passed away June 8, 1982 and her brother, Joseph Swingle, Jr.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 AND 6-8 pm, Monday, April 25 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. Funeral services and a celebration of Mary's life will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 26 at the funeral home with Pastor Justin Van Orman officiating. Mary will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Herman in Rose Hill Cemetery near Roseville.
Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Mary to the New Lebanon Lutheran Church, 582 Logan St., Junction City, Ohio 43748. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
