Mona Elaine Gernak

Mona Elaine Gernak, 80, of Crooksville, died at 5:40 AM, Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster.

She was born, October 25, 1937 in Zanesville, the daughter of the late Charles Williams and Francis Ferguson.

Mona retired after 25 years from Brockway Glass in Zanesville. She attended and was a member of the Maple Avenue Christian Church in Crooksville and the VFW Auxiliary Post 9090 in Crooksville. Mona was well known for her spitfire personality, her love for having a good time and her infectious laugh. She was such a cool lady and very young at heart.

She is survived by daughters, Vicki (Tom) Tucker and Staci Rodgers both of Crooksville; her grandsons, Brody Payton and Carder (Megan) Payton and her great-granddaughter, Anslie Lane Payton.

In addition to her parents, Mona is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Gernak who died on July 1, 1989.

Friends and family will be received, 2:00 PM-8:00 PM, Friday, December 29, 2017 at Maple Avenue Christian Church, 112 Maple Ave., Crooksville with a VFW Auxiliary service held at 7:00 PM. Funeral services and a celebration of Mona’s life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 30 at the church with Rev. Conard Wolf officiating. Burial will follow in Iliff Cemetery next to her husband, Frank.
