Robert L. Allen

Robert Lewis Allen, 91 of San Benito, Texas, formerly of Crooksville, Ohio passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2014.

Bob was born July 31, 1923 in Crooksville, the son of the late Rex and Beatrice (Strate) Allen.

He served our country in the U S Navy in WWII, flying combat missions over the Atlantic and Pacific theaters.

Bob was a member of IBEW 1105 for over 56 years and served as President of Central Ohio N.E.C.A.. He was the owner of Allen Appliances and R. Allen Electric that was formerly located in Crooksville. He was a member of VFW Post 9090, Crooksville-Roseville, American Legion Post 222 and Peerless Lodge 591 F. & A.M., both in Crooksville and Scottish Rite, Valley of Cambridge.

Bob was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing in Canada as well as numerous states. He loved trap shooting and founded the ABC Trap Shooting Club in Crooksville. While living at his retirement residence in San Benito, he was very active in Cameron County, serving on numerous boards and committees. He was also instrumental in starting a computer club and wood working group while residing in Texas.

Bob is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Frank Fazakas of Zanesville; his son and daughter-in-law, Jon Robert and Karen Allen of Crooksville; his grandchildren, Trevor Lovell, Traci Lovell Hageland and Timothy Roberts and his two great grandsons, Nick and Jake Hageland.

By Bob's request, his remains will be cremated. A graveside service will be held at a future date.
