Robert Donald Thomas

Robert Donald Thomas, 83, of Deavertown, peacefully died in the early morning hours of Monday, March 10, 2025, at his home.

He was born on November 9, 1941, in West Virginia, to the late George and Vonetta Thomas.

Robert left school to head north from West Virginia to work in the coal mines starting at the age of 13 until his retirement in 1985. He was a tireless worker, always striving to support his family. Robert was a classic car guy to the core, traveling to car shows and hoping to take his own cars to shows this summer. He had a love for wiener dogs and fishing, but his greatest love was that for his family. In the words of his family, “He was a hell of a man, and would do anything for you”.

Left to mourn his passing are his son, Roger Thomas; his daughter-in-law, Michelle Thomas; his grandchildren, Amber (David) Pletcher, Mary Thomas, Meagan Thomas, Douglas (Kim) Thomas, Katelyn Thomas, Ashlie Thomas, David Thomas, Michael Thomas and his great-grandchildren, Emory Pletcher, Oliver Thomas and multiple great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Wade) Thomas who died in 2023; his sons, Robert Thomas and Robin Thomas, as well as, his grandson, Daniel Thomas.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects from 1-3:00 PM, Saturday, March 15, 2025 at the Goebel Funeral Home, 36 N. Buckeye St., Crooksville. Funeral services and a celebration of Robert’s life will start at 3:00 PM with Kyle Eveland as celebrant. Following funeral services Robert will be cremated.
