Samuel Douglas Potts

June 17, 1981 — February 4, 2025

Crooksville

Samuel Douglas Potts, 43, of Crooksville died in the early morning hours of Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at the Genesis Hospital following a sudden cardiac event.

Sam was born the “wanted and compassionate” child on June 17, 1981, to the late, Raymond and Linda (Higgins) Potts.

A family man to his core, Sam reveled in being around his tight knit and very close family. Bickering back and forth with his friends and family from childhood to the present was the bread and butter of his life. Sam was a child at heart, a big kid, the one you could always count on, these characteristics are what will be missed the most. His favorite thing to do was play cards and board games with his family. He was also known as the largest collector of Dale Earnhardt memorabilia as well as the greatest of goofy tour guides. A devoted husband and father, Sam gave his time and his love to those at home, life will not be the same without his big smile and warm heart.

Left behind to mourn his passing are the love of his life, whom he married on June 16, 2012, Nikita (Leckrone) Potts, his beloved children, Pyper Potts and Dirk Potts; his sisters, Misty (Al) Smith and Jennifer Potts; as well as his nephews and playmates, Ryan, Seth, Ethan and Noah Wintgens; his aunts, Mollie Potts, Sharon Potts, Janet (Gary) Sharkey, Karen (Keith) Bell; his father-in-law, Mel Leckrone; his sister-in-law, Trisha Leckrone; his grandmother, Nan; Sam is also survived by his fur animals and fur nieces and nephews, Zeke, Little Bear, Nipper, Louie and Kat Potts as well as, several special cousins.

Sam is welcomed into heaven by his parents, Raymond and Linda Potts, his grandparents, his mother-in-law, Terri Leckrone; his special friend “Uncle” Bill Pompey; several aunts, uncles and special cousins as well as his dog, Nikki.

Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects from 2-4:00 PM and 6-8:00 PM, Friday, February 7, 2025, at Goebel Funeral Home, 36 N. Buckeye St., Crooksville. Funeral services will be rendered at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 8, at the funeral home with Rev. Tony Richard eulogizing. Sam will then be laid to rest in Zion Cemetery with his family.
