Terry Lee Smith, 78, of McConnelsville, Ohio passed away at 7:09 PM, Friday, September 15, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at his son's residence in Blue Rock following an extended illness.
He was born December 14, 1938 in Rosefarm, the son of the late Howard and Annabelle (Ross) Smith.
Terry was a disabled heavy equipment operator from Columbia Cement in East Fultonham. He was a member of VFW Post 9090 and Sons of the American Legion Post 222. He was very proud of his induction into the Perry County Baseball Hall of Fame and his membership in the Buckeye Big Bucks Club. Terry was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and outdoorsman with a real love of fishing and hunting.
Terry is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Debbie Smith and Gene and Lori Smith, all of Blue Rock; his sister, Barb (Kip) Wood of Roseville and his brother, Dan (Dee) Smith of Crooksville; his eight grandchildren, Levi, Jared (Jessica), Jessica (Josh), Beth Ann (Cody), Waylon, Josh, Megan, and Mariah; his six great grandchildren, Lynlee, Gabriel, Cameron, Samantha, Jase, Braxton and Gavin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara L. 'Bobbie' (Grimm) Smith who passed away February 25, 1992; his son, Geoffory L. Smith who passed away September 18, 1991; his brother, Teddy Smith and his sister, Sandy Rosser.
Family and friends will be received 11:00 AM-2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE, OHIO. Funeral services and a celebration of Terry's life will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home with Daryl Clark and Pastor Steve Harrop officiating. Burial will follow next to his family in St. Joseph Cemetery, Crooksville. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the VFW Post 9090 following the committal service.
Contributions may be made in Terry's memory to Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care, 713 Forest Ave., Zanesville, OH 43701. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
