Thomas William Collins, 67, of Crooksville, died in the evening hours of Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Genesis Hospital following complications of COVID-19.
Tom was born one of ten children on April 8, 1954, the son of William Collins and Marilyn (McMillan) Collins of Crooksville.
Following his graduation from high school, Tom enlisted to serve his country in the United States Army. Tom was a proud of his service in the Army’s 101st Airborne Division as a parachutist. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Tom worked various jobs in the oil field. He then went to work for the Village of Crooksville. After only a few years at the Village he became the Village Administrator, holding this position for over 20 years, until his recent illness. His hobbies included collecting antiques, outdoor equipment, and guns. He very much enjoyed spending time outdoors. Along with the rest of his siblings, he grew up attending the Maple Avenue Christian Church. Tom was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather, his renowned stubbornness will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, Tom is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dorothy ‘Dottie’ (Cavinee) Collins, his children, Janey (Jesse) Williams, Tom (Megan) Collins; his siblings, Brenda (Danny) Nichols, Belinda (Kent) Nichols, Mary Ann (Eugene) Cote, Karen (Mike) Burns, Mike (Mona) Collins, John (Arlene) Collins, Bruce (Heidi) Collins and Joe Collins (Randy Lucas) and his grandchildren, Tanner, Maelee, Keegan, Duncan, Connor and one on the way. Tom is also survived by his K-9 buddy, Bear who is just as stubborn as he was.
Tom is preceded in death by his brother, Rob Collins.
Friends are welcome to pay their respects from 2-7:00 PM, Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Goebel Funeral Home, 36 N. Buckeye St., Crooksville. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM, with Rev. Conard Wolf presiding as celebrant. Full military honors will be rendered by the United States Army in conjunction with local veteran’s organizations. Following services Tom will be cremated.
