Thorla G. Tod Gottke

Thorla G. "Tod" Gottke, of Crooksville, Ohio passed away at 1:32 PM, Tuesday, January 7, 2014 following an extended illness, surrounded by his loving family at the residence of his daughter.

Tod was born July 10, 1931 in Perry County, the son of the late Harold L. and Lenora (Brown) Gottke.

He was the former owner and operator of Crooksville Hardware at McLuney. Tod was a member of Iliff United Methodist Church. He served our country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the DAV and American Legion Post 222 in Crooksville. Tod was a licensed pilot and loved to fly his private plane out of McLuney Airport and over Perry County and the great state of Ohio.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joan Schumacher Gottke; his daughters and son-in-law, Nina Ater of Deavertown, Lynn and Gary Lindsey of New Lexington and Elaine Embrey of Columbia, Tennesee; his son and daughter-in-law, Tod David and Jana Gottke of New Lexington; his grandchildren and their spouses, Heather Swingle, Amanda(Scott)Marshall, Brian(Amanda)Lindsey, Andrew(Angela)Lindsey, Matthew Lindsey, Timothy Lindsey, Melissa Embrey, Ronnie Embrey, Michael Embrey, Tod Gottke and Summer Gottke; his great grandchildren, Sklar & Drew Rackley, Cassidy Lindsey, Cody Harper, Katelyn, Mya and Paige Lindsey, Olivia & Sydney Marshall and Annaleigh Embrey.

In addition to his parents, Tod was preceded in death by his daughter, Connie Sue Gottke who passed away April 7, 1980; his brothers, Lloyd D. & Marvin Gottke and his son-in-law, Gary Ater.

Family and friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday, January 10 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. Funeral services and a celebration of Tod's life will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 11 at the funeral home with Pastor Marc Caton officiating. Burial will follow in Iliff Cemetery in McLuney.
