Warren Jay Thorp

March 25, 1969 — May 26, 2021

Crooksville

Warren Jay Thorp, 52, of Crooksville died in the evening hours of Wednesday, May 26, 2021 in Genesis CCU following a battle with liver and brain cancer.

He was born one of six children on Tuesday, March 25, 1969 in Zanesville to the late Delbert and Carolyn (Smith) Thorp.

Jay spent some of his working years at various area manufacturers, such as, Glassfloss, Ferro-Alloy and Superior Fibers, but his passion for work was in computer technology. He completed lots of college coursework related to computers in Zanesville and went on to be known as the guy who could fix your computer issue. He spent countless hours taking computers apart and putting them back together and had built several of his own custom models. Jay also had a fascination with the inner workings of complex operations also in vehicles, simply put, Jay was a Jack-of-all-trades.

His family described him as selfless, with a giant heart filled of love for his family, as seen in his years spent caring for his brother, Daniel. Spending time with his children and family was a great joy, but nothing was matched to the time spent with his grandchildren, they were the ones in whom the stars and moon set.

Left to mourn his passing are his children, Kayla Thorp, Emily Thorp, Trisha Thorp and Warren “Jake” Thorp; his sisters, Lisa (Tim) Bobb and Delberta Riffle; his darling grandchildren, Davey, Adelaide and Hailey; the mother of his children and friend, Tammy Thorp, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Welcoming Jay into eternal life in addition to his parents are, his siblings, Amy Wheeler, Jamie Thorp and Daniel Thorp, his brothers-in-law, David Wheeler and Jack Riffle, II, as well as, his Grandpa Albert.
