William Clarence Grannon, a beloved member of the Crooksville community, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the age of 83. Born in Crooksville, Ohio, to the late Clarence and Garnett (Hensley) Grannon, on June 23, 1941. Throughout his life, Bill found joy in the simple pleasures - from his passion for racoon, squirrel, and turtle hunting to his love for fishing. He was a member of the Perry County and Morgan County Coon Hunters. A dedicated sports enthusiast, Bill was known for his unwavering support of Crooksville High School and Morgan High sports teams, and his favorite professional teams, including the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Guardians, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. He even said if Cleveland had a bowling team, he would cheer them on. His spirit was always lifted when watching local sports events. Bill played basketball and baseball throughout his years, earning his way to the Perry County Baseball Hall of Fame. In his younger days, Bill shared his musical talents by playing the acoustic guitar in his band called “The Galaxies.”
Having worked at Hull Pottery, Bill always spoke fondly of his time at the company and took pride in working there. Following the Hull Pottery Strike, Bill went on to retire from Glasfloss industries.
Bills's greatest joy came from spending time with his cherished family. He leaves behind his daughter, Stacy (Mike) Wintgens, son William "Ken" Grannon, son, Michael "Shane" Grannon, daughter, Dedra Grannon, daughter, Ashley (Jerrod) Heskett. He adored all of his grandchildren, Dustin (Alicia) Grannon, Karissa (Hunter) Hayes, Ryleigh Grannon, Emma Heskett, and Zach Heskett; and cherish great-grandchildren, Nora Grannon, William Cooper Grannon, and Addilee Grannon, finding immense pride and happiness in their company.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Garnett Grannon; his sisters, Gloria (Charles) Blair, Dorothy (Lee) Starling-Haslip, and Betty Cooper, his brother, Robert (Patty) Grannon.
Bill will be remembered for his kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for his family. May he rest in peace, forever cherished in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Public Viewing will be held at Goebel Funeral Home, 36 N. Buckeye St., Crooksville, Ohio, on Monday, November 25, 2024, beginning at 3:00-6:00PM. Bill's family invites all who knew and loved him to join them in celebrating his life and legacy.
