William M. Bill Strate

William M. "Bill" Strate, 76, of Crooksville, Ohio passed away at 11:25 PM, Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Heartland Fairfield Nursing Home in Pleasantville following an extended illness.

Bill was born May 29, 1938 in Zanesville, the son of the late William E. and Leontine Orndorff Strate.

He was a retired employee of Owens Corning in Newark, a member of the First Hope United Methodist Church in Crooksville, Peerless Lodge #591 F.& A.M., the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1979 and a member of Sons of the American Legion Post #222 all of Crooksville.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Dixie Schooley Strate of the home; his daughters, Darcy (Dan) Lucas of Belle Valley and Darby Guy (Randy Guthrie) of Zanesville; his sons, David (Angela) Strate of Crooksville, Darrin (Kathy Edgell) Strate of Roseville and Dana (Vanessa) Strate of Crooksville; his grandchildren, Treavor and Tylynn Strate, Tanner, Darrin and Brody Strate, Keisha and Dalton Pritchard and Kyle and Leontine Guy; his great-grandchildren, Donovan, Marcus, Keira, Remington, Weston and Wrett.

Friends and family will be received, 2:00 PM- 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM, Thursday, January 1, 2014 with Masonic Services starting at 8:00PM, at the GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. Funeral services and a celebration of Bill's life will be 11:00 AM, Friday, January 2 at the funeral home with Rev. Gay Blau officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Crooksville.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bill's name to the Perry County Cancer Alliance, P.O. Box 724, New Lexington. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
