William Franklin Shertzer, 53, of Crooksville died in the late evening hours of Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Genesis CCU following a long battle with liver disease.
Bill was born one of two children on December 10, 1971, in Fremont, to his parents, William and Ruth (Howard) Shertzer.
A simple man to his core, Bill spent his days watching OSU and Browns football, looking through his many collections of knives, hats, clothes and shoes. He was a dearly loved man; he was a devoted grandpa and was dedicated to his family. His life was precious to all who knew him and those left behind will be forever changed by his passing.
Left behind to mourn his passing are his significant other of 22 years, Brandi Matthews, his children, Kristen (Alexander Alcala Sr.) Shertzer, Amber Matthews, Jordan Shertzer and Dakota (Katie Dupler) Musselman; his father, William Shertzer; his sister, Beth Shertzer and his adoring grandchildren, Jewelyannah, Alexander, Jr., Vincenzo and Simona Alcala, Lynkin, Deklyn, Azlynn, Anakyn, and Kilyan Musselman, Braxton Dupler and Kaysen McCandless, and William and Theodore Matthews. Bill also leaves behind his special friends, Shaun Brumage and Jamie McConaha.
Bill is preceded in death by his mother, Ruth (Howard) Shertzer.
The family has chosen to mourn privately, and Bill will be cremated and returned to his family.
Goebel Funeral Home is caring for the Shertzer family.
