Natalie Annette (King) McLain

August 6, 1935 — December 3, 2022

Zanesville

Natalie Annette McLain, 87, of Zanesville, formerly of New Lexington, peacefully passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at the Genesis Hospice Morrison House in Zanesville.

She was born August 6, 1935 in Crooksville, the only daughter of the late Edgar and Izetta (nee: Rambo) King.

Natalie’s caring spirit and generous heart could be felt by anyone she met.  She had a special gift, not only seeing the good in people, but bringing out the best in them as well.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, philanthropist, and retired reading recovery teacher.  Natalie dedicated her life to serving others, at first at home by supporting her family as they grew and then, going back to college to get her teaching degree and graduating from Ohio University with her youngest son, the same year.  She loved being surrounded by friends and family, problem solving, planning fish frys for all to attend, but mostly being around children, including teaching students and, later in life, being surrounded by her great grandchildren.

Natalie’s legacy lives on in her family; her daughter, Marsha McLain-Brownfield; her sons, James McLain, II and Timothy (Debbie) McLain; her grandchildren, Megan (Josh) Durst, Holly Winland, Jesse McLain, Timothy Scott (Tess) McLain, II and Christopher Kenyon; her great-grandchildren, Olivia Winland, Wyatt Miller, Logan and Addison Durst, Abigail and Timothy McLain, III, Collin, Braydon and Hazel Kenyon; her brothers, William (Kathy) King and Alan (Kathe) King and her dearest friend, Mary Lou Dosch.

Welcoming Natalie into eternal life, in addition to her parents is her husband, James L. McLain who died January 7, 2020 and her son-in-law, Cecil Brownfield.

The McLain family will welcome friends to visit and pay their final respects beginning at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, December 7, 2022 until her funeral service at North Terrace Church of Christ, 1420 Brandywine Blvd., Zanesville, Ohio.  Funeral services will take place at 1:00 PM Wednesday with Lead Minister Chris Steele presiding over the  services.  Natalie will be laid to rest in Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery next to her beloved husband.

Memorial contributions may be made in Natalie’s name to the Community Foundation for Perry County, PO Box 456, Nelsonville, OH  45764 or by donating a book in her name to a teacher that you know.  Envelopes will be available at the church.

The McLain family would like to extend their immense gratitude for the care given to her by the staffs of Genesis CCU Department and Genesis Hospice Morrison House.

Goebel Funeral Home, 36 N. Buckeye St., Crooksville is caring for the McLain family.
